To engage youth in education and activism around human rights issues within Sonoma County

Which human rights topics/essentials are important for students to learn about?
“It’s important for students to learn about basic human rights so they understand how to treat others and stand up for themselves. Some important topics are freedom of speech, equality for everyone, and the right to go to school. Students should also know about their privacy rights, the right to be safe from violence, and the right to a clean and healthy environment. Learning about voting, immigrant and refugee rights, and fair work conditions is important too. It’s also important for students to learn about medical rights, like the right to access healthcare and safe medicines, and to understand drug safety so they can make healthy choices.”
